Medscape is seeking a highly-qualified and experienced medical writer to lead medical strategy and content development for the promotions division of MedSims, the leading virtual patient simulation application. The Medical Strategist will be responsible for developing content for professional audiences in alignment with brand strategies. This position requires extensive interaction with Biopharma clients and collaboration with cross-functional internal teams including application developers, web design, sales, and overall program delivery. Medscape is the leading online global destination for physicians and healthcare professionals worldwide, providing comprehensive clinical information and resources in multiscreen format, enabling health decisions anytime and anywhere.


  • Serve as a lead medical writer on promotional and marketing content consistent with pharmaceutical industry regulations and requirements at the brand level
  • Participate in both internal and external project team meetings and liaise directly with clients on a variety of content aspects, including decisions on content strategy, revisions to reflect input from Marketing team and other stakeholders, and Medical Legal Regulatory reviews
  • Collaborate with other members of the project team who are involved in the development process (e.g., project manager, editor, web developer)
  • Conduct small-group meetings in person and via teleconference for internal Medscape team members, pharma, faculty, collaborative partners, vendors
  • Provide compelling and scientifically accurate content for a variety of communications and promotional projects
  • Master and utilize internal project tracking tools, templates, and processes
  • Maintain friendly and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through clear articulation and an effective communication style
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Function independently in all of the above



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent years of relatable experience.  An advanced degree(e.g., Masters, PharmD, PhD) in a clinical field preferred is a differentiator
  • 8+ years of experience within medical / healthcare / Pharma related field - can be: clinical, Med Ed, Content, Med Comm, etc.
  • 3-5 years related work experience within content creation; preferably in a medical communications company and/or medical education company and/or pharmaceutical field, and/or professional medical publisher
  • Demonstrated experience within pharma and understanding of MLR process.
  • Substantial knowledge of clinical medicine, preferably across a broad range of conditions. Ability to quickly develop expertise in new therapeutic areas
  • Solid experience in content development, clinical writing, and familiarity with industry standards (e.g., AMA style)
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and very high energy with excellent teamwork skills
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Organizational skills, effective time management, and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Extreme focus on accuracy, attention to detail and consistency of work
  • Travel, estimated 25% to 40%
