Overview

Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

Responsibilities

Medscape is seeking a highly-qualified and experienced person to develop certified medical education content (CE, CME, ACPE), in the field of NEUROLOGY. The Scientific Director is responsible for the development of educational content for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists that will be published on the Medscape.org website.  

·      Edit (clinical edit and line edit) content received from faculty/authors and medical writers for clarity, medical/scientific accuracy, alignment with learning objectives and other specifications from the grant proposal, and consistency with the target learner audience;

·      Write editor’s notes and introductions for, and summary statements of, content received from faculty/authors and medical writers;

·      Develop PowerPoint presentations for multimedia programs;

·      Deliver assignments according to specified timelines and quality standards; and function independently within 3 months in all of the above;

·      Maintain up-to-date knowledge of important clinical issues and advancements, approved therapeutic drugs and regimens, major publications, and clinical practice guidelines, in the fields of psychiatry and neurology;

·      Acquire up-to-date knowledge of other therapeutic area(s) within specified timeframes, as needed;

·      Interpret quantitative and qualitative research findings

Qualifications

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·      Advanced degree preferred (MD, RN, NP, PA, PhD, PharmD) in a medical or science-related specialty; several years of experience in the medical education field may be considered instead

·      3+ years of work experience in a related bakground such as in a medical education/communications company, or professional medical publisher, or academic institution/hospital/university center, or medical society or pharmaceutical/biotech industry

·     Background in medical sciences to be conversant with nationally/internationally recognized KOLs regarding key/emerging issues related to prevention, diagnosis, and treatments within the Neurology. therapeutic area.

·      Effective written and verbal communication

·      Organizational skills necessary for effective time management and multitasking

·      Ability to work in cross-functional internal teams including outcomes, product development, production, studio 

·      Excellent writing skills

·      Ability to work independently and in group setting

·      Ability to prioritize and adhere to established timelines

·      Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail

·      Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively

·      Demonstrable experience of professional and hands-on medical content creation

·      Familiarity with CME/CE standards and processes

·      Able to manage multiple, rapidly shifting priorities and to adapt easily to change

·      Has a flexible mind set to manage multiple moving parts/projects simultaneously and follow through in a highly deadline-driven environment

·      Outstanding communication skills to convey in a timely, effective, and clear fashion the details of the science, be it by phone, email or face to face

·      Possesses strong team-building and inter-personal skills, including cultural awareness to relationship-build with international KOLs

·      Must be very fluent in English (verbal/written)

Preferred Qualifications:

  ·      Knowledge of and ability to apply ACCME standards to content development

·      Online publishing experience preferred

·      Medical Writer Certified (MWC™) credential preferred

·      Editorial skills: developmental, substantive/structural, stylistic, rewriting

·      Advanced skill level in Microsoft Word and Outlook

·      Advanced skill level in PowerPoint

·      Advanced Editorial skills

·      Basic skill level in Excel and Adobe Acrobat

·      Basic skill level in ReadCube and EndNote

·      Ability to work effectively and efficiently on shared networks/corporate applications (Workfront, SharePoint, Sales Force, Lync, Box)
