Responsibilities

The Portfolio Analyst (PA) works within Project Management Office (PMO) for WebMD Health Services to manage reporting of Technology Operational & Performance Metrics and portfolio dashboard. The PA will utilize multiple Business Intelligence tools to illuminate trends, patterns, and project and initiate progress. The work is focused on report design and generation, along with support of interactive dashboards. Reports cover a variety of projects with varying complexity, each with their own requirements.

The successful candidate is energized by interesting data challenges and using metrics to drive improvements within development and business processes. (S)he is extremely driven & self-motivated to develop or deepen analytical skills and broaden their analytic thought processes. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral part of the Project Management Office to develop next-generation reporting & analytics for technology portfolio of initiatives
  • Synthesize, & provide portfolio level insights & on all value stream data to report on overall portfolio trends, performance,  & health metrics, facilitate decision making and escalation on critical issues
  • Facilitates gathering of initiative data from PMO, Engineering, Product management & financial analysts to ensure that the portfolio data repository is current, accurate & consistently maintained
  • Evaluate the best-in-breed Portfolio Management tool
  • Configure/Design, develop and maintain the Portfolio Management Reporting Platform
  • Collaborate & team with the Business Intelligence Architect to enhance and update to the Reporting platform
  • Review and assess Portfolio Management Software for updates and upgrades, creating impact assessments and recommendations
  • Perform QA of the Portfolio reporting tool during updates and upgrades
  • Work closely with the cross-divisional and cross-functional teams and vendor(s) to understand business requirements and provide direction/guidance on what is        considered best practices for Portfolio Management and Reporting solutions
  • Provide basic analytical support related to aggregating data and interpreting results for operational product development and quality metrics. In other words, tell meaningful stories with data.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis of data sets to look for patterns and spot integrity and quality issues
  • Run and present on-going reports and dashboards in tools such as Power BI, EazyBI for JIRA, Amplitude, and Excel
  • Perform GAP analysis between the current state metrics (available) & the future state metrics (desired)
  • Perform automation and ongoing enhancements of internal reporting methods
  • Perform predictive, diagnostic & trend analysis on the Web MD Health Services’ value streams (portfolio initiatives)  
  • Synthesize, summarize and report on Portfolio financials utilizing excel or JIRA tempo/or other Portfolio financial tool for budgets, forecasts, actuals, & variances as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and represent data with attention to detail, accuracy, and audience: how to tell meaningful stories with analytics
  • Experience with report writing, and presenting findings with visualization elements
  • Mid-level to advanced proficiency with data manipulation and reporting tools such as Excel, MS Power BI, Tableau, COGNOS, Micro strategy and EazyBI for JIRA
  • Quick learner with ability to dive into analytical tools and provide ad-hoc reports as needed
  • Incredibly creative, motivated & collaborative
  • Demonstrable ability and desire to learn what you don’t yet know and be self-directed to further develop your analytics-related programming and reporting skills 
  • A strong team player who is collaborative, is optimistic and has a can-do attitude

Preferred

  • Experience and understanding of Agile work processes – SCRUM and /or SAFe
  • Experience with Confluence and Box
  • Experience with enterprise product development and release cycles
  • Experience and understanding of Enterprise PDLC  & SDLC
  • Experience with relational database query languages  such as SQL or JQL
  • Exposure to Linux shell scripting and/or PowerShell
