The WebMD Video Team is responsible for creating award-winning medical and health related lifestyle content. We produce a balanced mix of innovative video offerings, which include topical medical news and technology, health features, patient stories and original series for desktop, mobile and social. WebMD’s brand new $1M studio has a full working kitchen studio and in 2018 will have living room, bedroom and gym studio sets. The DP must enjoy wearing many hats and be creative and a highly skilled camera operator both in our studio and in the field. A thorough understanding of all aspects of production is required and a willingness to oversee the studio is an integral part of the job.  The ideal candidate must have an eye for lighting, framing and shooting. At times, she/he must be comfortable as a one-person band. This position reports to the Director of Video. 


  • Set up, operate, maintain and organize video production equipment: Cameras: Sony FS7, A7 and Cannon 300; travel lighting kit and studio lighting; microphones and audio equipment.
  • Oversee the production studio. This includes keeping gear cleaned and calibrated, setting up and breaking down sets, adjusting lighting, moving cameras and equipment, keeping it organized at all times and be innovative with its use.
  • Maintain working inventory list of all equipment.
  • The DP must be truly collaborative in nature, work in tandem with producers, contribute new production ideas and styles of shooting and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • At times, the DP will shoot b-roll video without supervision.
  • Manage small crews and integrate into third party freelance crews when necessary to assure production is complete according to brand and contractual guidelines.
  • Shoot, deliver and DIT work will be necessary such as logging single-camera and multi-camera footage for editors and producers.
  • Assist Producers to schedule third-party vendors and make any necessary on-site arrangements (equipment, release forms, travel, etc.)
  • Work with other departments to optimize video content in-line with business priorities.
  • Manage and multitask several projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines and quality of the content are met.

  • Bachelor's degree (Journalism, Digital Video Production, Film, Communications, or Multimedia Arts), or relevant years of equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of on-set and/or studio experience with camera operation and assembling and setting up production equipment (sound, lights, etc.).
  • Must include link for your Reel in resume.
  • Highly creative and visual eye; with the ability to shoot for short-form and long-form content.
  • Must understand the difference between desktop and social video styles.
  • Expert knowledge of cinematic style digital cameras, lenses and cinegear (Dana Dolly, Crane and Steadi-Cam).
  • Expertise and creative with lighting, shooting and framing.
  • Dress professionally when representing WebMD out on location.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in basic video editing a plus.
  • Production experience with an online publisher, agency or innovative brand preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced editorial environment.
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and comfortable working on multiple video projects simultaneously.


  • 10-15% local travel required
  • Must have own vehicle capable of transporting video equipment.
