Responsibilities

WebMD Health Services is looking for software artisans--people who can do more than make code that merely works. We look for people who understand the tools of their trade well enough to craft clean, clear, maintainable code. We follow Agile processes to produce quality code in a highly cooperative cross-functional team environment. Teamwork and communication are essential parts of our job every day. As a member of the Product Development group you will work side-by-side with testers, data architects, UI designers, product owners and other developers to deliver robust, highly-usable, software solutions with the scalability to serve our rapidly growing private-portal business. You will build next generation products for our most widely used and most visible applications.

 

In this role you will:

  • Actively participate in the elaboration of product requirements and define acceptance criteria with team.
  • Estimate of stories and iteration planning.
  • Implement test fixtures, acceptance tests and unit tests to drive development.
  • Implement software making appropriate use of software design patterns and best practices.
  • Demonstrate shippable quality code to achieve story acceptance.
  • Make effective use of daily stand-ups, iteration planning meetings and retrospectives.
  • Perform code reviews and drive technical design decisions relevant to each project.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of web application development in .NET.
  • Strong experience with Windows, C#/.NET, SQL
  • Experience developing large-scale web-based systems.
  • Experience working on a Scrum or Agile team.
  • Proficient in data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design.
  • Strong familiarity with industry-standard software design patterns.
  • Independent time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication.

Desired

  • Experience building solutions based upon SaaS using RESTful APIs
  • Experience with CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
