Overview

Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

Responsibilities

·        Mid-level operational manager for the content development department; works in close collaboration with Medical Writers and Content Supervisors; reports to the Associate Director of Content and Copyedit

·        First point of contact for operational (non-writing) process issues or questions from other departments

·        Develops, maintains, and cultivates freelancer resources; manages outside services invoicing and budgets

·        Manages and oversees the “Product Champions”, product-specific leads within the department; collaborates with Product Champions to maintain manuscript templates and standards of practice, including product requirements, specs, scope, and best practices regarding execution; communicates product updates to writer team

·        Accountable for resourcing as well as resource onboarding and training

·        Develops and maintains training resources for staff and freelance resources

·        Develops and maintains departmental processes as well as self-serve reference tools/portals

·        Participates in interdepartmental process meetings with or on behalf of Associate Director and is responsible for deliverables

Qualifications

  • BA/BS, preferably in a scientific/medical discipline or equivalent years of experience.
  • Past experience in digital publishing in content development related role preferred
  • Past experience as medical writer a plus
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience, working in a high-volume, process-oriented digital agency environment with focus on online promotional content development. 
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical company requirements and submission systems, and regulatory guidance a plus
