Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

Medscape is seeking a highly qualified and experienced person to support development of certified education for healthcare professionals by ensuring the content development process adheres to standards established by the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Individual will report to the CME Director and will work closely with the editorial staff.


The Associate CME Clinical Director is responsible for reviewing educational content within deadlines and with the highest quality. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with editorial staff, including scientific directors & program managers, throughout program development to ensure adherence to ACCME, ANCC, and/or ACPE criteria including Standards for Commercial Support
  • Provide certification review of all supported activities and materials prior to posting to ensure fair balance, scientific rigor, and appropriateness for target audience, and compliance with certification standards, including content validation.
  • Support the development of CME-certified activities that are funded by Medscape
  • Support the development of third party content for CME certification including review, edit and/or write CME components of third party and original content such as brief overviews of clinical relevance of the article and posttest questions as needed
  • Identify and leverage relationships with faculty and CME authors/writers to ensure content adherence to all the ACCME standards and policies
  • Remain up-to-date on the US accreditation standards
  • Provide training, insight and guidance to other team members on department policies and best practices
  • Maintain a friendly and productive relationships through clear articulation and an effective communication style with internal and external stakeholders
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned


  • Advanced degree preferred (MD, RN, NP, PA, PhD, PharmD) in a medical or science-related specialty; several years of experience in the medical education field may be considered instead

  • 10+ years experience in healthcare, publishing or other similar related professional
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing content in accordance with ACCME, ANCC and ACPE continuing education requirements
  • Strong background in adult learning principles and curriculum design (alignment of objectives to content to assessment)
  • Skilled in applying PhARMA, AdvaMed, FDA and OIG guidance on use of commercial support in continuing education
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Advanced skill level in PowerPoint
  • Basic skill level in Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  •  Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently on shared networks/corporate applications (Workfront, SharePoint, Skype, Box)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to efficiently work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a highly deadline-driven environment, while taking into consideration stakeholders based across multiple time zones

  • Ability to work in cross-functional internal teams
  • Positive attitude/high energy with a willingness to accept varied assignments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a medical education company, medical communications company, professional medical publisher, academic institution, and/or medical society or pharmaceutical company
  • Online publishing experience
  • CHCP credential
  • It is preferable for the candidate to live in commuting distance to our New York City, Durham, North Carolina, or Atlanta, Georgia offices
