WebMD Health Services is looking for an experienced Senior Technology Manager to lead the creation and support our next generation of web-based health management solutions.  In this role you will manage multiple technology professionals who are leading cross-functional teams charged with delivering or supporting our web applications.  Our ideal candidate is an experienced and successful people manager with a track record of leading organizations in building and supporting software that delights its users. This person must know how to hire and grow talent, motivate others, and provide excellent team and technical leadership.


In this role you will: 

  • Provide expert people management skills and fiscal skills at the departmental level
  • Leverage teams to drive corporate and departmental strategy
  • Provide consistent communication to teams to ensure alignment with corporate strategy
  • Focus on responsiveness to client concerns with minimal escalation to Director level
  • Provide comprehensive status reporting and critical item visibility to executives
  • Periodically takes on Director level tasking as part of career development (e.g., escalation and incident management, executive briefings)

  • 10+ years developing or supporting commercial software for the web
  • 5+ years managing members of a technology team
  • 3+ years leading or mentoring other technology managers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with lean / agile development (Scrum, XP, or similar methodology)
  • Proficient as an individual contributor in software development, software testing, web system administration, user interface design, or database architecture
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication
  • Highly energized with a passion for software craftsmanship
  • Knowledge of TDD, ATDD, or DDD a plus
