Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Outcomes at Medscape Education, provide highly skilled, proactive account management, project direction, coordination and support to ensure efficient and effective handling of outcome studies within agreed priorities, budgets and time scales to the highest quality and with minimal supervision. Independently balance project specifications and budgets with revenue expectations and future sales opportunities. Collaborate with vendors and Sales to facilitate annual year-over-year growth in revenue from outcomes research.  

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the stream 1 team to support Medscape Education’s worldwide goal to demonstrate the value of the education it provides by creating reports that attest to the impact of educational activities, the Manager, Outcomes Research will:

  • Work with Associate Project Managers to oversee the management of all aspects of outcome study implementation, including those conducted by vendors
  • Ensure:
    • an accurate and up-to-date project database is maintained for all outcome projects to track progress
    • vendors receive data necessary to complete research projects in a timely manner, oversee status calls, ensure contracts are fully executed and billed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Analyze data on outcomes study progress reports to identify at risk projects and present solutions to cross-functional senior leaders within Sales and Production/Deliver   
  • Function as team leader and escalation point for resolution of project implementation issues for the Sales, Strategy, Project Management, Scientific Directors, and Product for all education research projects
  • Work with internal teams to ensure activity and outcome evaluation research meets internal revenue goals and contract commitments
    • Liaise with senior management in Project Management and Product Marketing and Recruitment to ensure timely completion of studies.
    • Liaise with vendors to ensure project reports are generated on time and stay on budget.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors
  • Prospectively evaluate outcome studies performance versus contracted expectations and independently work with delivery teams and vendors to develop solutions to troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain a friendly and productive relationship through clear articulation and an effective communication style within our team and with external vendors
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Attend appropriate Sales, Strategy and Editorial training meetings
  • Attend national CME conferences to meet with vendors and stay abreast of CME enterprise standards

* Estimated 10% travel required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • At least 5 years of experience managing projects across functional teams and external partners toward common objectives
  • At least 5 years of experience managing data and reporting analysis efforts for large data sets
  • At least 2 years of experience in clinical/educational research
  • Experience in healthcare or related industry or in medical education preferred
  • Excellent computer skills that includes working remotely on shared networks
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with project management software preferred
  • Proven team player
  • Strong written and oral communications
  • Ability to collaborate with teams as well as work independently
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to efficiently coordinate and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail with high level of accuracy
  • Ability and desire to meet deadlines and deliver results with minimum supervision
  • Positive attitude/ very high energy with a willingness to accept varied assignments
  • CCMEP or PMI certification a plus
