Overview

Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

Responsibilities

Medscape Education is seeking a highly qualified and experienced CME-professional to support our worldwide education business. From a visionary perspective, this role will lead the effort to identify new or emerging approaches to assessment of impact.  The position reports directly to the VP of Quality and leads the Outcomes and Insights Department that conducts education evaluation studies and generates astute insights. Further, it oversees the harnessing of deep insights from a rich member profile (>86 separate profile measures) and third-party data

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Independently plan and execute research and evaluations projects. Provide highly skilled analysis and writing support to develop and ensure assessments measure post-education impact and that research data are appropriately summarized, strategically focused, detailed-oriented and completed within agreed-upon priorities and timelines with little to no supervision. Specific roles and tasks include, but are not limited to:

 

Strategist:

  • Work with internal teams to develop new research capabilities, including outlining product specifications, production plans and reporting capabilities, etc.
  • Oversee the design and development of clinically relevant study and data analysis plans; manage IRB approval process as warranted
  • Author/co-author posters/presentations to disseminate research results at professional conferences and manuscripts
  • Develop best practices, analysis and reporting standards and protocols

 

Manager:

  • Manage a staff of full-time employees, contractors and freelancers as needed, including monitoring work, training, and maintaining standards
  • Oversee the generation of >500 educational outcomes and in-depth assessment and presentation of deep insight reports summarizing the results of quantitative and qualitative analyses from educational research studies, Medscape member profile  and third party data sets.
  • Manage department to deliver revenue at or ahead of projections
  • Manage department expenses
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement

 

Liaison:

·      Report to senior management regularly regarding department status

·      Serve as internal consultant to sales, clinical strategy, and editorial leadership team on best practices for outcomes research, training needs and resolution of challenges

·      Maintain familiarity with current industry practices and regulatory requirements and guidelines that affect medical education and outcomes research

 

  • Be available for a limited amount of travel in support of the above responsibilities (~25%)

Qualifications

·      Master’s degree with a focus in research, healthcare, clinical, statistics, psychometrics, psychology, data science, or related field

 

·     Strong knowledge of and proficiency with basic through advanced level statistics

·      Ability to think strategically while drawing meaningful conclusions and to present these findings in a compelling way to those who lack this expertise

·      Understand the rules associated with assessment development and execution (psychometrics)

·      Ability to work independently and in a group setting

·      Ability to drive consensus within/among distinct and diverse teams

·      Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail

·      Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively

·      Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to efficiently work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a highly deadline-driven environment, while taking into consideration stakeholders based across multiple time zones

·      Positive attitude/very high energy with a willingness to accept varied assignments

·      High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)

·      Experience managing people

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·      5+ years of related experience in healthcare, education-related research, or in certified medical education. This may include a medical education/communications company, academic institution/ hospital/university center, medical society, or a pharmaceutical company

·      Knowledge of educational research implementation (IRB process, data collection, and management)

·      Advanced clinical or outcomes research, public health, or a related degree  (MD, PharmD, PhD, MS, MPH, etc.)

·      Familiarity with CME/CE/CPD standards and processes

·      Experience in assessing the impact of online or distant education through valid and reliable methodologies and appropriate statistical procedures

·      Experience using web-based project management tools such as MS Project, Basecamp, and Workfront

·      Familiarity of shared networks and cloud-based systems such as Box and SharePoint
