    As a Network Security Engineer, you’ll be a go-to person for configuring and supporting datacenter network infrastructure, with an emphasis on monitoring and maintaining network security, for the Health Services division of WebMD. This position is part of the WebMD Health Services Operations team supporting highly transactional, geographically distributed, Internet facing infrastructure that delivers and protects highly sensitive HIPAA data.


    What you’ll do at WebMD:

    • Maintain, monitor and support production network equipment and network security devices, including outside of working hours in an on-call capacity.
    • Triage, prioritize, troubleshoot and resolve work and incident requests related to IP networking and security.
    • Provide technical support as part of a cross-discipline team to identify and analyze potential security concerns to determine validity, preserve evidence, escalate as appropriate and recommend remediation steps.
    • Be aware of new vulnerabilities and evolving attack methods, and constantly work to counteract potential threats.
    • Document and conform to processes relevant to the above job duties.
    • Participate in a 24x7x365 on call rotation.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting production IP networks.
    • Demonstrable proficiency with network security devices such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS or Unified Threat Management devices.
    • Experience with Web Application Firewalls and/or Application Delivery Controllers (Load Balancers) is a plus. 
    • Solid understanding of datacenter switching networks and networking fundamentals, including Layer 2 Protocols (STP, RSTP/MSTP, 802.1q, 802.3ad) and Layer 3 Protocols (OSPF, BGP)
    • Previous experience with Leaf and Spine networking and virtual/software defined networking systems is a plus.
    • Understanding of log management and alerting.
    • Prior Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools such as Splunk is a plus.
    • Proficiency with creating and maintaining technical/process documentation that ensures efficient, consistent support and demonstrates policy compliance.


    Preferred Skills:


    • CCNA Routing & Switching or CCNA Security certification, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
    • Working knowledge of SSL/IPSec/Cryptographic technologies.
    • Prior experience managing HIPAA compliant data center networks a plus
