    Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

    WebMD is searching for a Section Editor, for its Portuguese Edition. The Section Editor, along with the Latin American Senior Editorial Director, will be responsible for the development of the news stories and other medical content. It’s role will be to assign, create and edit the Portuguese content, in all areas and specialties deemed as priority.

     The Section Editor will work in direct contact with the journalists, medical translators, physicians of the advisory board, strategic partners and other collaborators, making sure that the Portuguese Edition is complete, with the editorial coverage of the main medical conferences, latest news and clinical perspectives. Will work with the Senior Director on budget distribution, will develop and clinical edit, as well as review all content, making sure they are all delivered on a timely manner, according to the specifications and finally, that they will be published without errors.


    Your role at WebMD

    • Planning, assignment and following-up of Editorial Content with different sources: News stories need will be developed with the team of medical journalists; Clinical perspectives with the medical contributors; Translations with the medical translators. All sources need to be followed-up with contracts and payments, if necessary.
    • Clinical editing, coordinating the work of the copy-editor and making sure all posted text is following the Portuguese Grammar grammar and correct.
    • Update daily of Portuguese Edition website.
    • Building of newsletters.
    • Participation in medical conferences of key specialties, as needed.
    • Management of comments on the Portuguese portal, monitoring and contributing to the strategy of social networks and reports on trends, problems and concerns.
    • Logistical planning of the editorial coverage of scientific conferences, with studio scheduling and support to the various collaborators (doctors, journalists, partners) that will participate in the coverage.


    Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Writing, English or other equivalent years of experience

    3+ years of professional editorial experience, focusing on Portuguese-speaking audiences.

    3+ years of professional experience editing in a digital production environment.

    Training in journalism or medical / biological sciences (medicine, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, nursing, etc ...)

    Extensive and proven experience in web writing and editing.

    Experience in a large education company and / or medical content and / or editorial group is highly desirable.

    Experience working and producing content through the internet.

    Fluency in English and Portuguese is MANDATORY.
