    We are looking for a Clinical Informaticist will work both independently and in conjunction with product management, data operations and product development to support corporate integration and use of clinical terminologies. You will join a very close-knit team of informaticists supporting “lights-on” operations at WebMD Health Services.  The ideal candidate position is highly self-motivated, willing to jump into vocabulary management leveraging both clinical and computational skills.

    This key role will work with the team to:

    • Analyze, select, acquire, support and maintain standardized clinical code sets, clinical data representation systems, clinical ontologies and related healthcare data.
    • Participate in operational and strategic planning for data handling in order to optimize company products and services for maximal end user benefit and client satisfaction.
    • Maintain expertise in legally-mandated and de facto standards for transfer of health-related information, and participate in assuring the business meets or exceeds standards as required.
    • Participate in creation and oversight of proprietary ontology development and maintenance, as well as alignment with related departments such as content collections and indexing.
    • Participate in ongoing support of clinical informatics tasks and staff; working to generate timely and up-to-date documentation of databases, clinical algorithms, project plans and outcomes, user guides for proprietary tools, and similar artifacts for the informatics group.  

    Skills & Experience:

    • Experience with and knowledge of data processing and persistence technologies including relational databases (Microsoft SQL, PostGres, etc.)
    • Familiarity with best-practice principles of database architecture design and development.
    • Strict attention to detail with ability to multi-task.
    • Experience with clinical terminologies and ontologies.
    • Familiarity implementing security, privacy, and compliance requirements
    • Experience working on a Scrum or Agile team
    • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication
    • Independent time management skills


    • Minimum of 2 years working in clinical informatics.
    • Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice
    • Minimum of 2 years working with coding, query languages (SQL), database construction and management, data modeling 
    • Strict attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines with positive outcomes
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform work to meet both business and clinical goals; understand and align with decision-making processes in both contexts.
    • Proven familiarity with and understanding of the meaning and structure of standard clinical code sets (ICD-9, ICD-10, SNOMEDCT, LOINC, etc.)

    PREFERRED Skills:

    • Working knowledge of tools like Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket
    • Experience or in-depth understanding of claims data, continuity of care documentation, or clinical coding
    • Undergraduate computer science training strongly desired (e.g.: Java, Perl, Python, C#)
    • Experience with software version control (Git)
